Howdy, everyone!

TLDR; Bought a raggedy monstera 2 years ago, nursed it back to health, but the original leaves are beginning to yellow at the tips. New growths have no issues. Should I cut?

Looking for some advice regarding my beloved Monstera.

I’ve always wanted a larger Monstera and about 2 years ago stumbled across this guy at a local nursery. He was in rough shape and discounted. Root bound. The leaves looked like the plant was in the box Ace Ventura delivers.

For some reason, my brain told me THIS was the one and I needed to save it. I by no means have a green thumb, but have enough knowledge to keep various plant species alive (except succulents for whatever reason 😅), although I’m still learning and continually feel like I mess it up.

I cut some roots, leaves, and it started popping out new growths and thriving. It’s currently in a 10” pot; was in a 6” when purchased.

Even though some of the original leaves were in pretty bad shape (ripped/etc) they seemed overall healthy, so I kept them. Added some personality.

Recently, the original leaves that were there when I rescued him have started yellowing at the tips and looking even worse for wear. New growths haven’t been affected at all, and still continue to thrive, although some are a bit droopy after being in substandard light.

No pests of any kind, I keep a consistent watering schedule (always check moisture before watering.) Roots look fantastic.

It’s a bit leggy as I was in housing limbo for a while and he didn’t have good light, but I’m now settled and I also grabbed a bright as the sun grow light to help out.

Should I cut off these older leaves? Wasn’t sure if maybe they die off naturally due to the terrible shape they’ve been in for so long and if it could affect the rest of the plant due to taking up resources.

If I should cut, where would the best spot be? Included some photos of all sides and the bad leaves.

Thanks so much for any advice/input! And thanks for making it through my novel. 😂

Side note: please ignore the messy room. We’ve been painting and doing “spring cleaning,” but in winter.
