My attempt at predicting the MHWI Final roster

so far we have 12 confirmed monsters in MHWI, Barrioth, Tiegrex, Nargacuga, Velkhana, Shrieking Legiana, Fulgur Anjanath, Ebony Odo, Glavanious, Acid Glavanious, Banbaro, Brachydios, and Beotodus. That got me wondering what other monsters we could exspect to see add to MHW with the MHWI exspantion. So i cruched the number made the table in the link below:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14bpmPK4FzIMfXLmVA8Rwtwu_RrWRg1sinWNt891I7bk/edit?usp=sharing (raw data source MH Wiki Fandom)

note: For MHW elders i counted Behemoth, Leshen, and Ancient Leshen as elders for convience

TL;DR on average each MH game has 48 monsters, adds 13 new mons, 3 new elders, and 6 sub species/deivents, with each Ultamate vertion adding 16 adtional mons, new and returning, in the exspantion. Based on the numbers I predict that the MHWI final monster roster will consist of 43 large monsters give or take a few.

Since we already have 12 confirmed monsters and the "flag ship rumor" is holding strong with only 6/14 unconfirmed that leaves us with 24 empty slots to fill. Now im going to leave 6 - 8 "empty" slots for new monsters yet to be seen just to be safe. My best guess we'll most likely going to see a Tobi, Kulu/Titzi - Yaku, Puki, or Palumo subspecies since those monsters are simular to Anjanath. That is to say these monsters are seldom hunted in the endgame grind and need a bit of a "buff". Also in the panel that revealed Acid Glavanious near the end the showed Tobi, Puki, Palumo. From what I've seen capcom likes to drop "mini leaks" every where to help get the fans hyped for a game. Good examples of this are the 15th poster, the flagship cookies (posted by u/Demonstoon: https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunter/comments/ce4k4b/japanese_cookies_possibly_leaking_the_returning/ ), and the coasters (posted by u/Maxed89 : https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunterWorld/comments/cf3ray/new_saucers_from_the_mh_bar_hmmmm_intensiveys/ ) And of courses we cant for get about the possibility an adult Xeno'jiva since he is still under research in the base game. That leaves 16 slots to fill.

To kick us off i think Oroshi Kirin and Alatreon are most likely going to be added to MHWI since they are the only 2 monster on the original leaked list, which was 94% acurate, that have not been added to the game yet. Oroshis Kirin makes the most sense since the whole expansion is centered around an icy region (14 slots left).

Next is Giginox simply because his basic model is already in the game thanks to Nargacuga, Tiegrex, and Barrioth. He would fit perfectly in Iceborne, giving the game that distinct creepy factor that i believe is a little lacking in MHW. Most likely Giginox would make its home in the poison caves under the Hoarfrost Reach which seems to be made for him. Plus with the addition of Giginox to the game it would complete the pseudo-wyvern set (13 slots left).

Along the same train of thought as Giginox are Bulldrome and Azuros/Logombi. Here is why: if you played MHW on new years day there was an event quest called "Mosswinin' and Dinin' ". In the quest the mosswin you fought were roughly the size of a Bulldrome and sheared the same attack patterns as well. Since we all have seen how Capcom likes to reuse model (as evidenced by the shear number of flying/fanged wyverns in MHW) adding Bulldrome would be pretty easy for them. Now my reasoning for Azuros/Logombi is almost entirely based off of 2 moves (forward paw swipes, and bear hug) that leshian use. I've compared fights between these 2 monsters and those 2 attacks are almost indistinguishable from each other. another reason is the fact that, Azuros specifically, is the only other monster that i know of in monster hunter that regularly walks on its hind legs like Leshen (11 slots left).

Next up are Akantor, Ukanlos, Lao Shan Lung, Dalamadur, and Yamasukami. The developers originally planed to have these elder of yore wandering around in the back ground of the Elders Recess as like a living back ground and/or environmental traps . These monsters also appear in concept art for the elder's recess ( https://imgur.com/BgUqCbJ ) but were cut from the roster like Lagiacrus (who was cut for model issues) for one reason or another, which makes them prime candidates to return to MHWI. Ukanlos is not in this image but i included him in this section because he shares a model with Akantor, is an ice monster, and is apart of a matching set. (6 slots left).

Leviathans. The species left behind. We are almost certain to see at the very least the return of Lagiacrus since the developers did mention that they have resolved the issues with the leviathan model. the very possibility of the return of leviathan is a huge seller for me since they are so unique and just plain beautiful. IFF Lagiacrus is added it open the door Agnaktor, Glacial Agnaktor, Gobul, Mizutsune and the like. now the ones i think are most likely to join the rank are the Agnaktors because their base mechanics are already in world (stolen by Lavasloth and Beotodus) and require "minimal" work on the part of the Capcom to implement them into the game. An honorable mention in this section is Najarala but since im unsure if it sears a model with leviathans it doesn't make the cut (4 slots left).

Finally i expect to see some returning subspecies or deviants. these are Savage Jho, Gold Rathian, Silver Rathalos, and Blood Bath Diablos. these monsters were included in the coaster mini leak/teaser posted by u/Maxed89 and IMO make the most sense to bring back for the afore mention reasons.

Edit: While replying to Gasarocky i realized that i made a mistake in my "Total Monsters Per Generation" table. instead of taking the difference between the base and ultimate game and adding it to the base game I added the base and ultimate games together. I have since fixed this issue and the average number of monsters per gen has dropped from 98 to 61. Thank you Gasarocky for bring this to my attention. Also thanks to AlbainBlacksteel who pointed out that i included Fatalius twice (also fixed).
