For any of the bowguns do I have to change the ammo that I use for each specific monster?

I’m a DB main but for a change of pace I’m trying out both the light bowgun and heavy bowgun.I know how both of them work as well the ammo types but I don’t know is if I have to change my loadout specifically my ammo for each monster that I face in the game?
For example if I use pierce against black diabolos and it turns out to be very effective against him does that mean I can use it against Teostra or should I change to normal ammo against Teostra?
