I’m pretty sure people have addressed that they would want gauntlet weapons in Monster Hunter World. With that being the case, I randomly thought of a way gauntlets could possibly be added. Specifically, it’s an idea I call Grapple Gauntlets or the Grapplets. Essentially, the weapon combos would have a couple options. One combo would basically would involve punching your target continuously. On Xbox, it would be like button mashing Y. Much like other combos in the game, this could be kept up until your stamina emptied. Another combo would involve using the gauntlets like short range impact projectiles. This combo would launch the gauntlets’ fists from their sockets and into their target. The combo could be called force punch. It would involve starting with the left gauntlet like you were punching at someone and doing the same with the right gauntlet. The combo would finish on the third attack with both gauntlets being launched at the same time. You could aim them at a target like the bow.. This would all take place while the fists were attached with ropes in the sockets on the gauntlet that retract after each attack. On Xbox, this would be like using B. Finally, the core mechanic of the gauntlets would be their kinetic charge. The more damage you inflict, the more force the gauntlets absorb. This could be shown in a similar fashion to the switch axe’s charge bar. Regardless, the gauntlets works build up this energy and would allow you to perform one of three attacks. The first and weakest attack attack would be a stronger charged version of the double force punch attack. It would require one tier in the level if the charge bar. This would be Y B on Xbox. The second attack would involve launching one gauntlet into your target. That gauntlet would then latch onto the target. Then, you would charge up your other gauntlet and then reel yourself fist first into the target at high speed. This attack would have a higher chance of knocking an enemy down. This attack would do a median in the amount of damage between all three and would require two tiers on the charge bar. On Xbox, this could be RT B. The third and strongest attack would require a maxed three tier charge bar. This attack would start out with launching yourself a set distance into the air by punching the ground. Afterwards, you would charge up your gauntlets as you rose into the air. Once charged, you would descend at high speed from the air and deal massive damage at the epicenter of your landing. Around you, a short range shockwave doing much less damage would be unleashed in a circle around you hitting whatever wasn’t in the epicenter. On Xbox, this could be RT Y. Also, you would be able to block with both gauntlets if you held down a single button like RT on Xbox.
Well, that’s my idea. Someone may have discussed something similar before about this. I’m not sure, but I want to know what people think about this idea and my perspective of its execution if it were put into action. It was just something random I had off the top of my head.
