Am I resonating with a weapon, or is it considered an easier weapon?

Hi all,

TL;DR: having a much easier time using the Light Bowgun, getting much quicker kills than when I was playing Hammer. Is the LBG simply easier, or does this mean the weapon just works well for me?

Pretty new to the Monster Hunter series. I've now got 250 hours onto Monster Hunter World.

Recently I killed Vaal Hazak for the first time. That might give an impression as to how far I've gotten in the game. I ought to add that I am creating every charm, every piece of armor, and every weapon of the type I'm playing (so all Light Bowguns currently) even if I won't use that piece of gear nor if its an upgrade for my build.

Now, why do I pose the question in the title?

When I just started playing I just went the Sword and Shield, I don't really enjoy big flashy over the top weapons (I'm a low fantasy enjoyer) and thus gravitated to that weapon for its looks.

I did enjoy the SnS, but found that it became repetitive since I enjoyed mounting the monsters the most. Thus it was constantly the slash followed by the jump, hoping to get the mount off.

Getting bored with that repetitiveness, I decided to try the Bow. This I enjoyed as well, and I was always trying to knock the monster down or trying to apply status effects.

When I got to High Rank, I found the Hunting Horn. I always enjoy having a supportive role. I like buffing others so they can perform better and don't care much for producing the big numbers myself.

Whilst playing the HH, I loved knocking down the monster. I also realised my time to kill got a bit longer. Therefore I decided to try the Hammer.

Knocking down was fun, Hammer was fun. Until I came upon the Nergigante. To me the jump in difficulty was huge. Mistakes were punished much more, the monster was much quicker than any before, and my windows to get a bonk in became limited. Thus my time to kill went up.

Now I do realise that this all improves with practice, when you learn the monster's moves you will find more windows to bonk, and thus your kill speed was much quicker.

Nevertheless, because I knew I wanted to grind it lots, and reminiscing about the ranged combat of the bow, I decided to try the Light Bowgun.

Well, it was a massive difference. My time to kill dropped dramatically, currently I have nergigante at 7.5 minutes, with most of the time lost on the transition of areas to fight (something I need to still figure out how to stop?)

I one shot Teostra, Vaal Hazak and Kushala Daora, each with a first time TTK of sub-15 minutes.

Having played the LBG quite a bit now, I'm starting to wonder if the weapon just works really well for me, or if the weapon is easier to be good with?

If anyone has any insights, I'd love to hear them!

Also, maybe I need to just stick to 1 weapon? 😅 I'm also eyeing the Lance, Gunlance and Heavy Bowgun right now 😂
