After being a bow main for most of World and IB I decided to experiment with other weapons leading into RIse. Ive never considered myself very good at the game as I struggled for a long time with most end game monsters like Rajang and Raging Brachy. Well I tried the insect glaive and fell in love with it, to the point that Ive solo'd both of those monsters and didnt even struggle all that much after struggling so much with the bow. I guess I never had the grasp on the bow I thought I did, but took to the IG like a fish to water. Anyway, so Ive played a ton with the IG in IB at this point and decided to try it in Rise. Like the Bow, the IG seems to have taken a bit of a beating at first glance. The first move I notice missing is the downward thrust which became a staple of my repertoire. The other thing is in IB your R2 melee attack painted monsters and sent the kinsect out automatically, now you have to aim and fire the kinsect manually. Also the kinsect doesn't seem to leave dust around anymore either. I understand that some of these things might come back via silkbinds but I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything here. Tbh I still love the IG in Rise but am disappointed it seems theyve made concessions in its moveset to make room for silkbinds. the silkbind moves in the demo arent particularly useful either from what I can tell. Am I missing anything here?
