Lag caused by the rainbow pigment?

So I've been playing MHW since day one of PC release, and just finally got the rainbow pigment. I had a lot of fun, this was my first Monster Hunter game, so I was super excited.

...However, as soon as I equipped the rainbow pigment, the game became extremely stuttery and lagging, to the point of being unplayable. Never before had I had this issue before, and nothing, including changing graphical settings, seemed to fix this short of just removing the pigment.

It kinda sucks to not be able to use something I worked days on to unlock. Is anyone else having this issue? For what it's worth, I'm running the game on an Alienware 13 R3 with an i5 processor and 16 GB of RAM.
