Which do you prefer: "special moves" like Switch Skills or a focused moveset like in World?

So coming at this as a Hammer user I really enjoy in World when you do a combo and you're able to clutch claw seamlessly to grapple a monster and continue into a new move. Compare this to Rise and Switch Skills and those moves don't "flow" as nicely into your normal combos. They're basically special moves you just press when a meter fills up, like in a fighting game. For me I think I prefer the more natural "flow" in World than in Rise but don't really want to lose being able to change up your moveset like in Rise. How do you all feel about it?
