Need help with Ancient Leshen

Despite being in Fatalis gear, with full defense boost, full devine protection, and full flinch free... I'm still finding myself in a loop of hitting it 2-3 times and then spending a full 2 minutes recovering from whatever it does to me... currently running a specialized Safi's Hellsplitter (fire greatsword) and i still can't out dps it. In short, I'm looking for definitive advice on soloing it or some helping hands to make it easier.
