Hello fellow mono sufferers (and sympathetic viewers who are curious about this ailment),
I've had mono for two months now- nine weeks to be exact. But who's counting! I haven't been to work during this time- tried it once and kept my head on my desk all day (wasn't a good look- I'm a teacher). I am bored out of my wits and becoming angry at the world for being healthy and active. I have missed Halloween (I am one of those adults who spends all year working on the costume and I spend my entire year's classroom decoration allotment on Halloween decorations- note I teach HIGH SCHOOL) and now I will be missing Christmas.
As I'm sure you all well know, every time I try to do anything with a semblance of normalcy- ie laundry, going to the drugstore- it just makes me feel a million times worse. What do you guys do to help keep yourselves from going crazy? My psychiatrist suggested I take Vitamin D supplements, Nuun hydration tablets and get a SAD lamp- all of which I've done and it has helped improve my mood somewhat. I also tried taking some herbal supplements I read about online, but my body doesn't tolerate that stuff well, so I had to give it up. I've tried acupuncture, foot reflexology...but nothing really seems to help. I've developed a mild online shopping addiction, which comes at a bad time as my disability pay covers about one-twenty-fifth of my real pay. (Can anyone else relate to this?) And in terms of less destructive distractions- reading makes me pass out and anytime I try to play a game it makes me so unbelievably dizzy that I feel like absolute shit. So, all I can really do is sit on the couch. If anyone has any suggestions of how to keep your mind off this- especially without gaining further credit card debt- I WILL TRY ANYTHING!!
