my symptoms started on sunday and i ended up going to urgent care on tuesday. i had all the typical issues (swollen tonsils with pus, headache, fever, chills, body aches, etc.) but ended up testing negative for mono. i’ve been taking prednisone since wednesday and all of those symptoms have since gone away, but now i’m stuck with some pain on both sides of my ribcage/back, which i understand could be swelling from my spleen and liver. i’m wondering if i should go back and get retested?

(full disclosure, i was also prescribed z-pack, but i haven’t taken it. i felt like i was already recovering without it, and with the high probability of having mono i didn’t want to risk getting a rash. i’m also prone to yeast infections with antibiotics so i’ve decided against taking them for now.)
