Since losing hearing in my right ear, I’ve experienced all the mono hearing fun. And since I just can’t handle busy social situations anymore, I’ve been doing a lot of hiking. Normally nature is quiet and serene, but sometimes (and arguably all the time) you need your ears to let you know what’s going on around you! Not knowing where sound is coming from in the office is one thing. But when you’re in the woods, it takes on a whole new level of importance. On day hikes I take my dog along, so I can see where she’s looking when “important” sounds come up (whether it be other hikers on the trail, animals, atv’s etc). Does anyone have any tips or tricks, or any relatable stories from the woods?
