[Question] Any new tech since early 2000s?

Post Body

Hello, born with SSD in my right ear. Mother told me years ago when I was young that the doc simply told her my cochlea was undeveloped. I have yet to find out additional info as to what exactly is wrong with my ear but I will probably post later if I do.

Basically, I am asking if there has been any improvements to the technology to fix this issue since the early 2000s? I remember when I was going through examination they offered us a solution called BAHA (Bone Anchor Hearing Aid). For whatever reason, I can't recall exactly, it was not an option to surgically implant a new cochlear implant (I believe the amount available is extremely limited). Anyway I never went through with the procedure to get one of those BAHA things because I didn't like having this huge implant behind my right ear.

So, has there been any progress on the tech available out there nowadays? Anyone out there with one of these BAHAs? Improvements? Is it possible for me to get a cochlear implant nowadays or is it still limited/impossible? I'd appreciate any and all ideas. I feel like trying to find a solution now that I feel like I have a little more control of my life these days.
