Hello, first time posting here. I’ve been gaming off my 55 inch 4K tv and with Black Friday around the corner I’m looking to finally purchase a gaming monitor. I’m looking for something that would run 1080p, with 1 MS response time and 144hz to 240hz depending on if it would even make a difference to have the 240hz. Games I primarily play is Overwatch, R6 Siege, Apex Legends, Smite, and Dark Souls. I might play Super Smash Bros. On it occasionally as well. My price range is about $300-$400 so I’m not too sure if that’s very limiting for what I’m after. It’ll sit on my desk, be hooked up to both my PC and PS4 Pro at the same time, so it’ll need to have an HDMI hookup. This is mostly for competitive gaming so I’m looking for 24” to 27”. I bought a prebuilt PC through dell, and it’s probably in the high end of mid range gaming. Never had any issues with frame drops and have never seen it stutter even playing demanding games like Ark, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, and Project Cars.
I always see people recommending Asus monitors and am currently looking at the ASUS ROG Strix XG258Q 24.5” Gaming Monitor Full HD 1080P 240Hz 1ms monitor, but I’ve heard a lot of people complain about issues with it out of the box with their panels or something like that. Since I’ll be purchasing it off Amazon I’d prefer not to have a high probability of needing to return it.
So, any suggestions? If more info is needed let me know.
Tl;dr Buying first computer monitor for PC and competitive PS4 Pro play for Siege and Overwatch primarily. Want 1080p, 1ms response time, and 144hz minimum. Will play on desk, monitor should probably be somewhere around 24-27 inches. $300-$400 price range. Less concerned with graphics, more concerned about it being competitive in games such as R6 Siege and Overwatch.
