Hey guys,
With my recently beefed up PC (Ryzen 7 3700X, 16GB DDR4 3000MHz RAM and an RX 5700XT) I thought it would be time to finally get a higher resolution monitor.
In the past I never really paid attention to anything monitor related besides response time and refresh rate. I currently have an AOC G2460V monitor with Freesync 1 @ 75Hz (TN panel). One of the main things that I want to improve is readability of text when I move my mouse around during gaming. Whenever there is text on screen in a game, above an NPC for example, the text will become unreadable if I move my mouse.
I've been looking at 1440p, 120Hz , Freesync monitors. However, it seems that the only monitors with these 3 options are all VA panels. These panels (including the Samsung LC27HG70) all claim to have 1ms response times. However, after reading a bit it seems that this response time is impossible for VA panels without extreme ghosting. I've also read that VA panels are absolutely horrible because they smear a lot. Is this true?
I've also pretty much read the same thing about IPS, that any supposed 1ms is a lie and that it's really around 4-5
Any other monitor recommendations would be appreciated.
So my "wish list" in terms of features:
400-500 euros (Netherlands)
1440p, 120Hz
27" - (though not a dealbreaker)
Actual 1ms response time
Freesync 2 (tho Freesync 1 would be fine too, considering Freesync 2 just adds questionable HDR AFAIK)
And it has to be suitable for gaming, so as little ghosting/smearing as possible
Thanks in advance for any advice :)
