I have a MSI Gaming X GTX 1060 and am looking to get a monitor to use it with.
I will be playing cinematic games, so I definitely prefer an IPS. Although I will be playing plenty of first person shooters, I am not a competitive gamer, so 144hz is welcome but not necessary. I also want g sync. I am not exactly sure how much of a problem screen tearing tends to be since I have never PC games before, but it seems like it would be annoying.
Here are my options as I see it:
Acer XB270 (1440p, IPS, Gsync, 144hz). This monitor seems to have everything I am looking for. It is too expensive new, so I would have to go with a refurb. My main concern here is that I would have to turn down settings and/or get low frame rates when playing AAA games, though Gsync will help. I like the idea of 1440p and a bigger screen, but not if it means low detail or choppy gameplay. I am not sure whether 1080p with max details looks better than 1440p with moderate details.
Acer XB241H(1080p, TN, GSync, 144Hz). This monitor has everything I want besides IPS. There aren't a whole lot of reviews on the monitor, but from what I have gathered it has decent color reproduction.
Get a non G sync 1080p IPS 60hz panel. I would make sure to get a good quality monitor if going this route. This would certainly be the cheapest option, and I could always keep an eye out for a deal on a better monitor during Black Friday. My biggest concern here is that its not really using the GPU to its full potential
Any advice or monitor recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks
