I went to brunch with my sister today and had my 12 MO with me. She was in the high chair eating her crackers and my sister and I were chatting. Out of nowhere this older woman comes behind me and starts rubbing my daughter’s arm. I put my hand in between her hand and my daughter and say ma’am. She then moves her hand to my daughter’s face and head and starts petting her rather aggressively. Like getting all up in there. So I again, put my hand in between hers and my daughter and she finally walks away. She then proceeds to stand at the counter behind me. My sister could see her just staring us down. She also decides she needs to tell 2 employees about the incident but implies that I was rude to her. Mind you I couldn’t see her, but she was in clear view of my sister. And she just stands at the counter behind me the rest of our time there. My daughter keeps looking at her because that’s what babies do. She made me so uncomfortable that we abruptly left as soon as we finished eating. We normally would have stayed a bit longer and chatted. It just completely ruined my day because she had the audacity to do that to my daughter and then complain that I was the rude one.
What would you have done if this was you in this scenario?
What is it with old women and touching babies??? I’m sorry this happened to you……. Earlier today I went to the grocery store and this older woman just walked up to my 12 month old in the cart and started touching her leg. She was like ‘you are so cute’ and I just gave my husband a look. I said thank you and kept walking. Her excuse was that she was having a grand baby soon. Uh ma’am that is no excuse to touch someone else’s baby
