Hello, I don’t know why there is purified water and distilled water in the baby aisle. The distilled water says “not sterilized” It really confuses me and I’m concerned about the process. Isn’t distilled water sterilized because they had heat it up for it to evaporate into a tube and condense. What is the reason for distilled water in the baby aisle?

Update: Thank you everybody for helping me understand this thing. Yes, fluoride in the water is scary to think of. Distillation can be achieved by changing pressure, so I understand why it won’t be sterilized. If it s boiled, then it will be sterilized. The concern for it wreaking havoc on kidneys comes from it not being full of minerals and thus it will take from your body & that too is a scary thought. Mixing in sterilized distilled water with formulas could make it stable so that it doesn’t strip the body of minerals.

Using it to clean the bottles is great because it doesn’t leave the residue or “crust” of dried water.

Thank you all for helping me understand these things. This has been invaluable to us and I’m really happy you could help me, Mom.
