First time posting - thank you all Redditors! Live in Midwest - after a good rain, water will set in back yard - city run-off ditches are not dug to proper depths and water runs down two properties to my backyard. I did pay for a sump pump system to improve moisture level in my basement.
There is a hole in the basement floor, and a drain from the hvac leads to this hole. I have had issues in this area previously, and during that time, I felt I may fall asleep and never wake up. Well, I didnât realize at the time, there was mold growing on some spare drywall I had placed there for storage. I removed that drywall and sprayed a vinegar and bleach concoction all over the area where the drywall was resting.
Then, I had a brilliant idea - stuff an old pair of undies in this hole, not allowing any âair to escape.â
I am attaching photos of the area, and the mold I found on my undies, which were stuffed in the hole.
I have another camera which can fit in the holeâŚI will return with more images from what is inside the hole.
What can I do with reoccurring mold in this area? I had three âmold cleaning companiesâ give estimates, after an expert told me that there is likely a mold issue - lowest estimate was over $10k!!?
I have tried to remove all of the mold concerns on my own, by myselfâŚyet, it keeps returning. And I am usually sick before I realize - itâs the mold again.
My âair quality expertâ who recommended the three removal-cleaning companies says that I need to make certain improvements before she will test the air quality in my home. Iâm in year two and she still wonât test the air to see what is the actual problem.
