Readings from moisture reader

My moisture reader I got from Home Depot is going crazy on the floor of my basement. I have tiles and I live down here as a renter. The meter also went all the way up when I put it on the forced air vent in my bathroom. There is no exhaust fan to pull moisture out.
Is this an indication mold is growing in the ducts and possibly on the ground?
