Opinion: None of you guys really want Dead Silence as a perk in the MW games, you just think you do.
Post Body

People hate that DS is a field upgrade in this game, and constantly complain about not having it as a perk like in some of the original games, but I don't think it would fit here, and if it were present, people wouldn't enjoy it much. In the original games, you had limited sprint, more toned out movement, limiting climbing and mantling, and other things that paced the game towards a mix of quick action and thoughtful gunfights. Dead Silence worked back then because it was only a small benefit, being able to remove the sound to allow for slightly faster and less risky gameplay, but since situational awareness was far more prominent back then, it wasn't always a huge lifesaver. But look at the MW games, which are much faster, with arguably more powerful and broken weapons (which is surprising considering that we had crazy stuff like the M16 in COD 4), faster and more aggressive climbing, infinite sprint, tactical sprint, and more. You have SMGs with fast sprint to fire times and ADS times that can consistently three shot you while shooting more than twelve times per second. Snipers that ADS in an instant with little to no sway and just about the most forgiving one shot kill areas you can get. The easiest shotguns we've had since the likes of BO3. Even with the Dead Silence field upgrade, just using it alone in modes like SnD is usually a massive advantage while it lasts unless you play like an idiot and take super predictable routes. With a Dead Silence perk, this would basically be the norm, and it'd practically be the only perk you'd see in loadouts, which would destroy the already awful perk build diversity. Not to mention that it'd just benefit campers too, since they can quickly sprint across a room silently to reposition themselves at a different angle without being punished, or they can run away secretly when they realize that the enemy knows their camping spot. Dead Silence as a field upgrade is far more balanced as a field upgrade for these new games, and considering how quick it regenerates and how it resets on kills while active, anyone who's decent will consistently have it anyways, even in SnD. What we need is for the 'Sentinel' gameplay they advertise to new players (but ends up being used from casual lobbies to ranked play and warzone) to be balanced so that it isn't inherently stronger than actual gameplay in some cases, or at least on par with it while requiring none of the effort or skill. Camping should be just as hard as it is to run around, and we should be pushing for COD to do that for us, not for blanket fixes that cause more problems than it fixes.

TL;DR DS Field Upgrade is fine, just balance camping
