hey guys,
yesterday I spent most the day messing around with different faerie builds in modern. A lot of the advice you gave was really sound. A lot of the faerie arch type cards are just to slow for what modern has evolved into over the years. I realized you have to build completely into creatures, or go more with a control set up that rids a lot of the deck of the actual faerie creatures. I also realized that bitterblossom isn't as powerful of a two drop that it used to be. I did find one build that i really like though and it is this...
2 Snapcaster Mage/ 2 Brazen Borrower/ 1 Vendilion Clique (5)
2 Jace, the Mind sculpter (2)
4 Inquisition of kozilek/ 2 Thoughtseize (6)
3 Bitterblossom (3)
3 Opt/ 4 Fatal push/ 2 Cling to Dust/ 2 Mana Leak/ 1 Logic Knot/ 1 Eliminate/ 1 Drown in the Loch/ 2 Force of Negation/ 2 Archmage's Charm/ 2 Cryptic Command (20)
4 Polluted Delta/ 4 Watery Grave/ 1 Mystic Sanctuary/ 4 Darkslick Shores/ 1 Sunken hollow/ 1 Sunken ruins/ 1 Mutavault/ 2 Field of ruin/ 5 Island/ 1 Swamp
As you can tell I liked building into the control side. With this deck you're able to control the early game with discard and then settle in with control to win the game. I cut down to three Bitterblossom because slamming it on the board turn two wasn't always the answer. Also drawing multiple bitterblossoms was never good. Instead with the draw in the deck I can find one if I need. Also laying it turn 4 with a counter to back it up allowed me to ride just a few faeries to victory. Jace, the mindsculpter in the end seemed better for winning games than the bitterblossom. The few Faeries that remained in the deck gave me control aspects and were multipurpose tools I could use.
In the end this more of a control deck than an actual faerie deck. What do you guys think? Thanks for taking the time to read this. Also thank you for your input.
