Standard disclaimer that league results are not indicative of the general metagame. They are selected for variety, not proportional representation.

There were over 70 lists this go-round, so even with some duplicates (four flavors of Domain Zoo), this was a big batch. And yet, still not a single copy of Murktide Regent! Maybe they hit a quota with the challenge results over the weekend, or maybe it's playing most of the same cards as Bmadman's UR Breach list.

In non-league news, /u/Kingcosmo7 wrote a nice primer on their Bant Knightfall list. This is a strategy that hasn't been around since like 2018, but I played this deck back then, and I've got basically all these cards, so maybe I'll throw this together for an FNM in the next couple weeks. If nothing else, it'll be good to cast Noble Hierarch again.

A non-exhaustive selection of spicy, nifty, and otherwise neat decks:

  • Mono-B Burn: jluna528 took down a league with a near-copy of DieselGuzzler's list from the other week, forgoing Collective Brutality in favor of Street Wraith and a couple extra lands.
  • UB Snow Control: Wormbones is really putting the "ice" in "spice" with this list! As cool as Marit Lage is, I think my favorite thing here is actually the [[Riptide Laboratory]] with Snapcaster Mage and the new Ertai.
  • Mono-R Devotion: Combining must-remove threats with cards that make it brutally punishing to remove threats, OscarS66 has one of the most unique mono-red decks I've seen at a time when there are a lot of mono-red decks (because let's face it, there's a pretty high floor on T1 Ragavan with removal backup).
  • Jeskai Brought Back: I probably could have called penach010's list Scam, but Brought Back is more fun to say. Plus there's a full set of [[Showdown of the Skalds]] that I want people to go look at!
  • Cookbook Reanimator: Move over Griselbrand, naddyeffintabs is done paying life to refill their hand after reanimating a giant lifelinking fatty!
