ONE Cards (and the decks that played them):

Standard disclaimer that league results are not indicative of the general metagame. They are selected for variety, not proportional representation.

Happy Saturday! This batch was a rowdy one, with multiple Enchantress, Capricious Hellraiser, and Mono-U Tron decks. Whatever process is used to populate these results also skipped some of the big meta decks, so you won't find any copies of Murktide Regent or Indomitable Creativity. It's spice everywhere you look! I'll have a few below, but honestly, read through the results, because you couldn't swing a stick without hitting something neat. Calibrated Blast! Life from the Loam! Timeless Dragon! Shining Shoal!

One card I wanted to highlight today was Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines. In the last few leagues, I've seen people trying half a dozen varieties of ETB-focused lists in Bant, Naya, UW, and several 4c combinations. While her most likely "best" deck is some Omnath elementals list, it's still been really cool to see the different things people are trying with her, and it's not like WotC is done printing cards with powerful ETB abilities, so there's a lot of room to grow in this strategic corner of the format.

We end with spice, as always, but there's a ton I didn't talk about, so if you see a list that deserves attention, shout it out!

  • Naya Kiki: abbadon3's list is the first of two ETB lists I wanted to highlight, partly because it plays the Kiki-Jiki/Restoration Angel combo at the top end, but also, I think Birds of Paradise into Fable of the Mirror-Breaker into 5 drop would feel pretty unbeatable if it happened.
  • Jeskai Stoneblade: I don't know how to explain it, but Inktwolery's deck soothed me. It just looks how I want decks to look. It's not doing anything wild, but it doesn't need to. It's like a perfectly fitted t-shirt and jeans. You earned this satisfied nod, Inktwolery.
  • Grishoalbrand: knotoast brought a classic combo deck that wins fast and wins big. The main combo is Neoform-ing Allosaurus Rider for Griselbrand, which draws Nourishing Shoal to pitch any of the huge green spells, which gives you more life to draw more cards. Once you feel like you've drawn enough cards, Lab Man or beating face with a flying lifelinking 7/7 will win you the game.
  • 4c Heartless Flicker: Another of the decks enabled (or at least emboldened) by Elesh MOM, soggymeatball's list uses Heartless Summoning to speed out all sorts of powerful ETB effects, capped off by Golos, Tireless Pilgrim for Emeria, the Sky Ruin to bring back anything that was evoked or didn't have its echo cost paid.
