BRO cards:

Standard disclaimer that league results dumps are not indicative of the general metagame. They are selected for variety and not proportional representation.

Honestly, based on the last month, this is a pretty bog-standard league dump. We've got a weirdly high number of some decks (UW Control) and some archetypes that didn't show up for whatever reason (not a single copy of Risen Reef), but for the most part, no big surprises. I was out of town this weekend and didn't have a chance to dig into the specific information in the league dumps that might affect how they're collated, but I've got some theories. I hope things get a little more predictable, because it's hard to draw any interesting conclusions from a deck dump when the root cause might be "the way the data is gathered is broken." We do still know what the format looks like though, and it's broadly good, albeit somewhat prescribed by the Horizons sets.

Looking ahead, most of the spoilers for Phyrexia: All Will Be One are out and I'm a sucker for weird meat machines, so I'm excited to play with the new cards. Is there anything that y'all are planning on picking up, testing, or otherwise have hot takes about? If so, let me know in the comments so I can call you out in a couple weeks for being right! (don't worry, I won't call you out if you're wrong)

While we wait for glorious compleation, let's check in on spice land!

  • Calibrated Blast | MagicTonga is a pilot of big numbers and few words. Respect.
  • UR Prowess Breach | Mostly pointing this one out due to the significant effect aspiringspike has on brews, and where he goes, people tend to follow, so if you run into a weird intersection of Underworld Breach, prowess, and a spicy one-of Grapeshot, you know who to blame.
  • Naya Midrange | This deck managed to trick my scraper into thinking it was Jund, because no one plays Tarmogoyf except Jund. Jund AND HanktheObese!
