Swearing In
Party leaders are to modmail in allocations for as outlined in this post. Example of modmail:
Hi, I am the leader of Party A, and my 20 votes in the Legislative Assembly will be allocated as follows:
/u/PartyACandidate1: 7 votes
/u/PartyACandidate2: 7 votes
/u/PartyACandidate3: 6 votes
My 7 votes in the Legislative Council will be allocated as follows:
/u/PartyACandidate4: 4 votes
/u/PartyACandidate5: 3 votes
If a party does not send in their votes within a week, they will be considered to have forfeited their seats. In order to swear in, members will comment below either with confirmation that they wish to serve, and the electorate or region they wish to represent in the Legislative Assembly/Council. A map of each party's electorates is available here. A list of the seats each party has won in each region is available here. Examples:
I wish to serve as a member of the Legislative Assembly, and I will represent Vasse.
I wish to serve as a member of the Legislative Council, and I will represent East Metropolitan.
Out of courtesy, do not select an electorate that someone from the last term has already selected, unless they have already signalled their intention to represent a different area.
Legislative Process
The legislative process is as follows:
First Reading: A bill will be debated on.
First Vote: A bill will be voted on.
Committee: If the bill passes, members will have the chance to propose amendments.
Committee Vote [if necessary]: Amendments will be voted on, if applicable.
Second Reading [if necessary]: The amended bill will be debated on, if any amendments are successful.
Second Vote [if necessary]: The amended bill will be voted on, if any amendments are successful.
Presentation to the Other House: The final bill, if successful, will be sent to the other house for the repetition of this process. It must pass both houses in the same form. For example, if a bill is passed in the Legislative Assembly but amended in the Legislative Council, it must go back to the Legislative Assembly for reapproval.
Royal Assent: If it passes both houses in the same form, the bill will be approved by the Governor and become law.
Each stage will last 3 days. How exactly are bills written? Here's a template!
