This term has been a great one for Western Australia. The Labor-Greens government delivered a strong surplus, and we did this by cutting unnecessary spending on fossil fuels, which has gone into responsible investment for our future. Last election, the Greens promised to deliver a renewable fund, a statewide electric vehicle charging network, and electric vehicle tax credits. This budget delivered that.
Across the term, we passed transformative legislation to end conversion therapy and to enshrine basic rights for renters in law. But there is still more to do. We need to end native forest logging, put renewable energy targets into law, introduce sustainability regulations for new homes, and so much more. The Greens have shown we can deliver for Western Australia, and more Western Australians are backing us according to polling.
This election, we are going to make a run for government, and as leader of the WA Greens, I'll be moving down to the Legislative Assembly to lead our party there. For the first time in Australian political history, a Greens premier is within reach, and as the election kicks into gear, we are going to present our plan for government to Western Australia.
My final message today is — judge us on our record. The Greens in the last term have shown that we aren't all talk, that we have the action to back up our plans. We have shown you how we'll govern, and now it's up to you to judge us on that record.
