Anacornda: Good afternoon, thank you everyone for joining me. Recently it came to the attention of my government that water reserves in the Karratha area are close to being empty. This was a major concern to me and my government and we are acting swiftly to respond to the issue.
Early yesterday afternoon, the Minister for Conservation and Rural Affairs, the Deputy Premier and myself authorised emergency water supplies to be sent from throughout the state to the Karratha area, to facilitate the restoration of water reserves in the area. It was also brought to our attention that the bore infrastructure in the region is in dire need of repairs. I’ve approved the funding to facilitate these repairs, to be finished before the start of Winter. The Government recognises that this will not be a permanent fix. As such we will be working with the Minister for Conservation and Rural Affairs to find a long term solution, to be created in the next state budget.
MerrilyPutrid: Thank you, Premier. It is of vital importance that we ensure that the West Pilbara region does not go into drought. Our government has been working as hard as we can to develop a sustainable solution that works to ensure that the crisis we have now does not worsen. Water restrictions have, sadly, have to be placed in the Perth metropolitan area on gardening, in order to preserve our precious water supplies if things begin getting truly dire. The Western Australian government is working to fix this crisis, and I’d like to give my sincere solidarity with the residents of the West Pilbara in this time.
