Whereas, most states in the United States allow senators to appoint their own replacements.

Whereas, a Senator should be able to resign without being concerned as to who will take over their position.

Be it resolved by the Assembly of Dixie,

Section I

Article IV, Section 1(g) of the shall be added to the Florida State Constitution, and will read as follows:

(g) Senators who have been elected to the United States Senate are beholden to their seats. If a federal senator resigns at any point during their term, they may appoint a replacement to succeed them until their term would regularly expire. This replacement does not have to be a member of the outgoing senator’s party.
