The office of SoSaturnistic MP responds to Green candidate
Post Body

The office of /u/SoSaturnistic, List MP based in Waitematā, has released the following statement:

Recently in the media a new Green member by the name of /u/CheerfullyPutrid posted a message implying that the Green Party is the "original party" of progressive change. As a new Labour MP nothing could be further from the truth I'm afraid, and as someone new and inexperienced with politics I can understand how someone could make this mistake.

The Labour Party has always been the natural home of progressives seeking social reform. It's why I crossed the floor with /u/Sylviagony, because we recognised that our progressive ideals that we championed would be better served at the heart of the next Labour Government.

Labour MPs have worked tirelessly for economic empowerment and social equality all throughout this term, tabling motions which support refugees, crack down on corruption, and ensure that previous moves to weaken the standing of working people are reversed, particularly in the area of working conditions.

Labour has a proud history of over 100 years fighting for the most marginalised in society and pushing for social change. Our working class movement will continue to drive it. With all due respect to /u/CheerfullyPutrid I'm afraid we are the "original party" as it were.
