Parliament has now begun to start operating, with the election of sam-irl as speaker, it has become possible to begin submitting the bills we have written. In this update, we will go through the bills and motion we have submitted to the house.
Firstly I would like to start by talking about the motion we have submitted. This motion would encourage the US to listen to the orders of Iraq for its military to leave the country. We think it's important for the US to respect countries sovereignty and we should be helping other countries or we might be next on the list.
The First Bill we have submitted is our manifesto policy of increasing the minimum sentence required to bar you from voting from 3 years to 6 years. We believe the people in this range who are sentenced shouldn't be barred from voting as it would take them further away from society and could discourage rehabilitation.
The Kiwi Party are also ready to introduce the Online Gambling Restriction Bill, written by former leader tbyrn21. This bill would ban lootboxes for sale in video games and would abolish in-game purchases in games for young children. It is disgraceful how the video game industry exploits our youth for money and we are here to make video games more fair for the players.
Our next bill is our Bus Services Bill, which if passed would increase the number of bus services going to rural communities and would protect bus routes which are vital for students to go to school. This would mean that bus routes which students rely on would be protected by the government and that all villages will be serviced by bus routes.
We have decided to reintroduce our coffee cup tax bill. This would put a tax on single-use coffee cups. This tax would hopefully encourage more people to bring their own coffee cups instead of using cups which are harmful to the environment and our wildlife.
Finally, we wish to bring back another 7th Term Bill which would increase the amount of paid holiday time Kiwis would receive each year. The paid annual leave of each Kiwi would go up from 4 weeks to 6 weeks if this bill passes and would help stress levels of hard-working Kiwis as well as give them the break this deserves.
