Although the parliamentary term has not yet started, the Kiwi Party would like to give its thoughts on the upcoming government, where we will sit in parliament, how much we agree with the government and what we are trying to do this term.
Firstly we believe that this new government will be more of a positive influence to New Zealand than a negative, their policies mostly align with our manifesto, however not enough for us to support them in some sort of deal and so we are not currently working with the Alliance Government.
However we are not in complete opposition to them as well and we believe that any ACT-National opposition is not worth joining as we will lose our neutral status to one that protects the right. Instead the Kiwi Party will seek a neutral status this parliament and will try and work with both the government and opposition to deliver what we were elected on.
As the government have released their policies we can say we are in support of the following governmental policies: Raising the minimum wage, extending the South Taranaki Bight Ocean Sanctuary, fixing the capital gains loophole, lowering the voting age to 16 and investing in rural emergency services. We are not in support of free university and will support our easier to fund alternative of more scholarships as well as we don't reforming abortion law. These are just an example of policies we support and oppose, I will take questions on other policies if people want.
Finally the Kiwi Party is in no surprise from the rest of this article in the crossbench. This will let us support and attack whoever we please and will give us parliamentary independence from other parties. We are however negotiating with another party about forming joint spokespeople and we will release more on that later.
