FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
---
Today the Honourable Member for Northland and Co-Deputy Leader of the New Zealand Labour Party, u/dyljam, made a statement of the resignation of u/KatieIsSomethingSad as Party Leader.
"Today I was very saddened to hear of the resignation of u/KatieIsSomethingSad as Leader of the New Zealand Labour Party. There is no doubt that Katie has been one of, if not the most, reformative leader of Labour. It is under her leadership that we have not only made significant progress in the polls and increased the size of our parliamentary caucus, but also made significant reforms in our party organisation."
"Katie's departure will be a significant loss for Labour."
"Being a member of parliament takes a significant toll on not only your own life, but also on your family. It is certainly not an easy feat. I know this from my own experience. For this reason, I have decided that I will not seek the leadership of the Labour Party."
"Should the next party leader choose to allow me to stay in my position, I will remain an active Co-Deputy Leader and I will work with the whole party to deliver a victory for Labour at the upcoming election."
"I thank Katie once more for placing her trust in me and appointing me to the party executive. I have full confidence in the ability of the party to continue on its path of growth and continue to grow in size. I hope to see a Labour Prime Minister in the near future."
