"In the wake of the National Party's blue wave by-election success, a number of changes have been made to the Official Opposition's Shadow Cabinet in order to accommodate our two new MPs, /u/FinePorpoise and /u/Gaedheal. The shadow portfolios held by myself and my Deputy Leader /u/Mattsthetic will remain the same. As Shadow Minister for Health, Justice and Regional Development, I'm excited to have my Meritocratic DHB Selection Bill read, and hope that my constitutionally significant Judicial Commission Bill is also drawn from the biscuit tin before the term ends.

"As many of you will be aware, /u/FinePorpoise has already submitted his first private members bill in relation to the Primary Industries portfolio, which he will hold in the Shadow Cabinet. In addition to this, /u/FinePorpoise will hold the government to account in the portfolios of Environment and Infrastructure. /u/Gaedheal has been appointed Shadow Minister for Defence and Finance. While the government has already presented its budget to the House, there is still many areas where /u/Gaedheal can advocate for better economic and fiscal policy from a centre-right perspective.

"/u/stranger195 will retain the Business portfolio and will pick up the Education portfolio, the former being especially pertinent with the government's submission of a destructive labour law bill which will hand more power to militant unions. Finally, /u/TheAudibleAsh will retain his Shadow Cabinet portfolios of Culture and Social Development, and will continue to criticise the government's bleeding-heart benefit bonanza. I'm very excited to work alongside this expanded National Party caucus as the largest party in Parliament, and I assure the people of New Zealand that we will hold the government to account."
