Marriage (Restore Christian Marriage) Amendment Bill

1. Title

This Act is the Marriage (Restore Christian Marriage) Amendment Act 2021.

2. Commencement

This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

3. Principal act

This Act amends the Marriage Act 1955 (the principal Act), excepting section 5.

4. Section 2 amended

In section 2(1) of the principal act, amend to read the following:

“marriage means the union of one (1) man and one (1) woman”.

5. Repeal

This Act repeals the Marriage (Definition of Marriage) Amendment Act 2012. General policy statement

This act repeals the Marriage (Definition of Marriage) Amendment Act 2012, and restores traditional marriage in New Zealand.
