Gambling Amendment Bill

1. Title

This Act may be cited as the Gambling Amendment Act 2020.

2. Commencement

This Act comes into force on the day after receiving the Royal Assent

3. Purpose

The purpose of this Act is to permit regulated domestic bookmaking and remote interactive gambling.

4. Principal Act amended

This Act amends the Gambling Act 2003 (the principal Act)

5. Section 4 amended (Interpretation)

(1) Omit the definitions of "bookmaking" and "remote interactive gambling" in subsection (1).

(2) Insert a new paragraph (ba) within the definition of "gaming machine" to read:

• (ba) includes a remote service on a digital communications device when used for the purposes of gambling; and

6. Section 9 amended (Gambling prohibited)

Subsection (2) is repealed.
