Greens celebrate passage of the Crown Minerals (Protection of World Heritage Sites) Amendment Act
Post Body

The Green Party are ecstatic to see the Crown Minerals (Protection of World Heritage Sites) Amendment Bill passed into law.

"This bill will protect our amazing world heritage sites, locations recognised by UNESCO for their significant historical and geographical uniqueness, from irreversible mining and exploitation." said imnofox.

"This bill comes after years of activism, and was first pioneered by the Honourable Ruth Dyson back in 2017. We stand on the backs of giants, and this bill, well, act now, is no exception."

"These sites are some of the most beautiful in the country, and I am overjoyed that they are forever protected from mining. These sites, Te Wāhipounamu, Tongariro National Park, and the Subantarctic Islands of New Zealand, are internationally recognised for their beauty, and the protection of them is a no-brainer."

"The passage of this legislation is a huge victory for the environment, the Green Party, and all the activists who campaigned for this outcome. Thank you."
