Minister sides with opposition, calls government bill a "waste of taxpayer money"
Post Body

speaking to media, imnofox comments on the recent happenings in the house

Jenna Lynch: "We saw some interesting comments from the Minister for Infrastructure in the house today, what are your views?"

imnofox: "That's right Jenna, the government is continuing to let their absolute disunity spill out into the public, just as it did during the by-elections. Just now we saw the Minister for Infrastructure, the Honourable /u/goofgy, come out swinging against a core government policy. They tried to pass this waste of a policy last term, but failed. They've come back this term, made it even worse, and now they've got the cabinet colleague in the house declaring it an absolute waste of money."

Barry Soper: "What's so bad about the bill?"

imnofox: "Obviously we all want a competitive market, but this commission is totally redundant. We've already got a Ministry that can do the same work, filled with talented public servants. We've already got a select committee filled with MPs that is supposed to be doing what that commission would do. It's just not necessary. Obviously /u/goofgy's been completely ignored at the cabinet table if he's forced to criticise the bill from the chamber, and that's a terrible indictment of this shaky coalition government."

Chris Bramwell: "You called the bill 'fiscally irresponsible'- why is that?"

imnofox: "It's $3 million for an unnecessary and redundant commission, with services already provided by other bodies. Last term the commission only cost $2 million, and members could only have salaries up to $20k. Now they've increased the funding by half and tripled the maximum salaries these 9 appointed economists, with extraordinary power and no oversight, can set for themselves."
