#GE2 [List] BestInBounds talks outside Dennys Manukau
Author Summary
BestinBounds is in List
Post Body

Its a warm day, on the morning of the final day of campaigning. BestInBounds has just exited Denny's after breakfast and prepares to address his supporters for the final time before his last rally at the Manukau events centre later in the day.

Folks! How good is Manukau! You absolutely cannot beat this place on a good day, and today is most definitely one of them. I'll keep today's proceedings relatively brief before my final speech later tonight and i'll only cover a few things because I understand Denny's probably doesn't want my entire support base talking up their car park! But the sheer volume of people here speaks to the validity and strength of our message, not only that - it speaks to how much confidence the public has in ACT and I promise we will do everything we can to justify this confidence.

I know nobody likes getting down to the nitty gritty technicalities and law courts, but ACT has introduced new aspects onto our platform that we know will make tangible differences to the lives of Kiwis. We'll open up our dismissal laws for senior employees in companies, so that our businesses are not weighed down in a lengthy dismissal process, and so that our courts work in an efficient, speedy, but responsible manner. We also will ensure every employee is accountable under the health and safety act for intentional and wilful neglect which places themselves and their businesses at harm. Essentially it is to stop people from taking advantage of the systems in place that are ultimately there to take care of them. But we'll also be reinstating 90 day trial periods, in order to boost employment and give kiwi's a fair shot at earning an income, whilst also giving the owners flexibility in their staff acquisitions.

Let's move to infastructure - we love it, and the previous budget was an indicator that we are not going to cut any corners in order to improve our current infrastructure and accessibility across New Zealand. Our policy has a mixture of previous ACT policies along with other new ideas we have created upon consultation with experts in a wide variety of fields. We will seal and maintain all country roads, through the use of revitalized investment FAR's. This will not only make the transport of goods for commerce across rural areas easier and more convenient, but also save lives from tragic deaths on unsafe rural roads. All new government projects will also be contracted out to local companies and labour sources, so that the regions themselves also benefit in a more direct monetary way from the construction of infrastructure and other big projects. While we appreciate the value of larger contractors, we also acknowledge that local companies also need our help and that in order to do that best giving them first rights to such contracts is a key first step. It is also a key component in our strategy to reduce rural poverty, by providing direct monetary benefits to the regions these projects are built in. Along with this we'll create a wastewater repair grant in order to fix the wastewater crisis in New Zealand, and enable us to finally be proactive in organising our response to addressing wastewater. Mt Victoria tunnel will be expanded to ease traffic flow, our ferry services nationwide will face an overhaul as we invest into them at a more rapid pace so that they are in a place where they are the preferred mode of transport when possible. Also the North Shore public transport services will undergo substantial investment as well as we seek to offer more transport routes and reinvest into these hubs.

On a side tangent, we'll seek treaty settlements with the Moriori people of the chatham islands , with a view towards restoring fishing rights, and fulfilling our obligations to them. The Maori community developments act, will also be redeveloped in a way that fixes the wording of the act, which is incongruous with where we have gotten to as a nation on such issues, and further, empowers Maori wardens more, and bring forth a new era in independent governance, focusing on a "by the community, for the community approach" to Policing. Such a approach is shown to work, and will drastically reduce reoffending rates, and other such crimes, by having important members of our community speaking up and out about these issues which they will have the best knowledge of, and thus be better placed to fix.

Furthermore, regarding free trade and investment, we'll join RCEP. An agreement that will have numerous economic benefits to New Zealand, and boost our continued post-covid recovery. Also remaining consistent with our belief in global free trade. Likewise, our traditional Pacific partners, Such as Samoa and Fiji, will remain our close allies, and we will do our upmost to maintain and improve our trading relations with the pacific. Tying us closer to the regions economically as well as diplomatically. The overseas investment act will also be opened up and the inefficient provisions which have prevented us from prospering will be addressed and they will be rectified. We will no longer be hamstrung by red tape, and we will be in a position to gain, and prosper in all facets from such investments. Continuing the philosophy of free trade, an ACT government will slash tariffs domestically to encourage and facilitate the exchange of goods.

Folks, thats all I have for you, for now. Later today I'll finish my campaign, but for now, rest assured that ACT is the party for you. The party for your future, a more secure and prosperous one at that. We have a track record of action that we are proud of, a history of delivering on promises and fighting for the common man. I have said it before, and I will continue to say it, a vote for ACT is an investment in your future. In OUR future. The left has let you down time, and time again, but we have just started to turn around then negligence. Help us, help you. Help the next generation.

Don't delay, ACT!
