Steps up to podium
My heart goes out to the people of the State of Chesapeake, and I hope that the emergency will come to end swiftly. The police striking need to return to work and resolve this peacefully, accepting responsibility for the damage they have done. The bill which most cite as the reason for the strike has been in effect for a long time, adding body cameras to the gear which police routinely wear. Body cameras are almost universally adopted across the nation and have cut down heavily on the police brutality which the nation saw beforehand. Despite the damage which resulted from the strike, I cannot encourage the Government of Chesapeake to prosecute the striking officers, but rather I encourage them to solve the problem diplomatically with Union leaders and the officers. In the meantime, I extend a helping hand to the Government of Chesapeake and even offer the assistance of our State Police, should the Governor deem necessary and allow them to assist in quelling the crime or riots across the border.
With all that said I would like to give a final thank you to our own men and women in blue, who have happily accepted the reforms which have made the lives of our citizens better and safer, some of which I signed in my first term.
I will be taking any further questions.
