I’ve been prescribed armodafinil for a few years now. Mainly prescribed because of my excessive sleepiness (falling asleep while driving/ working/ literally anything) I’m in the process of waiting for my sleep test in a lab and getting a formal diagnosis if there is one.

Anyway so that’s my original reason of being on armodafinil. But… Ive also been suffering from off and on depression (since I was 14, but it only recently got bad again in the last couple years including currently). I have no energy or desire to do anything. I’m currently not working/ my hours are cut and anyway my job gives me so much social anxiety I’m not sure if I’m even sad about my cut hours. I basically sit or lay on the couch all day, and if and when I do things (anything including washing my face, feeding my dogs, walking my dogs, driving to the store etc) I’m completely drained when I’m done. I isolate myself from friends and family. I don’t text back let alone meet anyone for anything. I come up with excuses on calling in to work when I barely work as is.

I don’t know if this is because of my depression, sleep issues or both… but I know it’s not normal - not even for me when I compare myself now to 6 months ago.

But when I take my armodafinil I feel like a completely different person. I’m energized, I’m talkative, I feel ready to take on the world in a way. I reach out to friends, I’m much more social (I can actually have conversations that I enjoy being in, as opposed to saying short 1 word responses). I’m in a better mood.

I obviously don’t want to rely armodafinil to help my depression. I’m thinking of trying ketamine therapy for my depression if anyone wants to chime in on that. But I was wondering does anyone else see a positive change with their depression on armodafinil?
