I'm not certain if it it's related to the OP's issue, but flair is broken, to the point of being completely unusable, in most of my communities as well, though only in the app. At least a few other much larger communities appear to be having similar problems, and have stopped supporting the app altogether. I wrote some additional details in modmail, but haven't received a response yet:

TL;DR of the issue I'm seeing, partial-text matches not working in the app seems to be the root of most of these issues. It works in every other version of the site, and works in 3rd-party apps, but does not work in the official app. As a generic example, a sidebar or menu link to list megathreads by searching for
flair:Megathread
would not match a post flaired "September Megathread" in the official app, but would match that post everywhere else. Please see the message for more specific examples.
