Screenshot pretty well speaks for itself:

Took me a while to find it, honestly; I initially thought it might be at the bottom, cropped out of the screenshot. But it's there, apparently, right in line with the drop-down control buttons, and with nothing that stands out as that being what you're supposed to tap on to send a message to the mods. It just looked like UI decoration to me.
If I can't find it, how are our users supposed to?
One of the comments above also brought up an interesting point; it would be a great improvement to have a configurable option to be able to collapse the mods list by default.
I doubt most users of the communities I moderate care at all who is moderating the place, so that list being shown all the time just becomes clutter, especially given how busy it is already with other more pertinent information. Having the list collapsed would also draw more attention to the Message the Mods button that's all most users should need, while saving precious screen space. Having it as a customization option would be preferred, as I'm sure there are still plenty of communities that do want their mods lists displayed for various reasons.

We don't so much get complaints, just users chatting individual mods instead of using modmail. I feel like instances of this would be substantially reduced if the UI was made more clear.
Most users who need to contact the mods aren't banned, and in the app the most obvious way to do so is to click one of the names on the list and click chat, which isn't the correct way. The UI on the desktop site is much clearer, with an actual button, above the list of usernames, saying "message the mods".
