On /r/adhd, we don't allow people to claim that ADHD is a gift, because it's not a gift. It's a mental disorder that causes many people significant amounts of grief and hardship. We also don't allow promotion of the neurodiversity paradigm or movement, because we find it to be extremely problematic in several ways. We've also received significant abuse from neurodiversity advocates and I've personally been doxxed by one.
When we see posts or comments on these topics, we remove it with the following message:

Hi user, this post has been removed because it broke rule 6.
Claiming that ADHD is a gift or that it’s only harmful because “society” is harmful, demoralizing, erases the experiences of most people with ADHD, and ignores scientific evidence. Don’t do it.
We prefer to frame things like this: while ADHD is not a gift, we are still capable of living happy, fulling lives and being gifted, talented, and special. Our successes are due to our hard work, not the fact that we have a disorder. Take pride in your effort and achievements, and do share your successes here, but don't attribute them to ADHD itself. I need an explanation as to how this removal reason constitutes hate. We're not trying to tear anyone down. We're presenting the scientific consensus on ADHD, explaining why framing it as a gift harms us, and offering our perspective that we're responsible for the good things we do and that we are capable of great things despite having ADHD.
