So, a while back, both this community and one other had fairly active subreddit chatrooms. I moved these to Discord when that feature was removed, but that proved to be a complete failure; not enough users in either community use or were willing to sign up for Discord, and the server is completely dead now.
I'd like to try an experiment of trying to revive them as chat posts instead. The interface doesn't seem to be particularly great for chatrooms, but it would at least allow people to chat in realtime without having to sign up elsewhere. Tbh, I don't have the highest hopes for this, as there seems to be no way for users to subscribe to posts to see new activity, but I'd like to see what happens with this way before I remove the chat options entirely.
It seems Live Chat Posts are only enabled for certain communities though; the option was never enabled in r/KinkChat, probably as it has no activity other than its now-long-gone chatroom. Neither the option for mods to enable Live Chat for posts, nor the option to turn on Chat Posts for users are visible. Is there any chance of it getting enabled here so we can try this?
Also open to other suggestions, of course, if anyone else happens to have had this issue.
Is live chat posts something that may be discontinued in the future then? I'd rather not set this up elsewhere either then if it's likely to go away lol..
Also; are they still available for new communities (as per this announcement) if I just wanted to create a new subreddit for this? Or has the rollout for new communities been paused too, or is that not a good idea?
I'm asking about the new Live Chat/Chat Posts feature, which came out last year I think; this is completely different from the subreddit chat feature that was removed.
Setting up the Discord server wasn't hard; it's fully set up and working, it's just that hardly anyone ever joined it, and the recurring reason why when I ask is "Because I don't use Discord".
Hence wanting to move it back to Reddit, but apparently the Chat Posts feature is still being rolled out, and not enabled for all communities yet.

I still see the option to select the Live Chat option when creating a post in at least one of my communities, is what I was referring to; I'd prefer to set up a community specifically for chat since a lot of chat comments might otherwise interfere with our mod bot. Do new subreddits still get this option to create additional chat posts? I'd like to have a few chat posts for different topics if the idea works out, or is it only just one auto-created chat post we would get in new subs?
If it is possible to create them in a new community, that would suffice and I'll just create a new subreddit to create these posts in..
