My take on a Trinidad Sour
Post Body

Yes my Christmas tree's still up. Don't judge!

So I've been on a mocktail kick and working my way through ZERO from the Aviary and Good Drinks by Julia Bainbridge. This is my non alcoholic take on a Trinidad Sour which is based on one of the recipes in Good Drinks (the Don’t Call Me Shirley)

Trinidadian Sort-of Sour

  • 1/2 oz Luxardo cherry syrup (or syrup from any nice jar of cherries - not the neon maraschinos)
  • 1/4 oz balsamic vinegar glaze (I don't have any right now so have been simmering balsamic until syrupy/reduced)
  • 1/2 TSP apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 oz fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 oz orgeat
  • 1/2 an egg white (optional)

Directions Add all ingredients to a shaker. If using egg, dry shake once, then add ice and shake.

This drink is quite flavourful, if too much for your palate add a little water or more orgeat to reduce the tart from the vinegars. Top with a dash of Angostura bitters if those are okay for you to consume.

I've been really digging these - they really hit the spot in terms of mouthfeel and packing a flavour punch. I'm curious if anyone else feels the same.. would love to know if you try it!
