Can someone please explain Luo Yi's combos?

I want to get good playing Luo Yi but one of her combos still kind of confuses me. I've seen tips to do the 1-1-2-1 combo but I don't get how is that different from 1-2-1.
I've also seen suggestions to use IQW but I don't know what item that should be replacing.. currently use COD-LT-Genius Wand-Holy Crystal-Divine Glaive. If you have any other tips or builds to share that would be greatly appreciated.
