Long story short, I had both games for playstation until I let someone borrow them and never saw them again. I "need" to finish them for the story line without watching playthroughs on YouTube. I've heard that (at least with ff7) you have the option to turn off random battles, and have max stats with required fights (for those that are just interested in the story, like myself).

But, at whatever the price point is at the moment, are these games worth it nowadays? I don't want to spend $15(for example) and have the game beat in a weekend unless there's a high replay value. I've tried the emulator route before, with very poor results. Actually it was on a crappy laptop and I couldn't figure out how to "change disk". So there's that.
