Aluminium is the useless metal; it burns away all your reserves. But where does that energy go? The feruchemical side of these kinds of metals have to do with investiture, connection, and identity. We've already seen the part where you can use aluminium to share metalminds with anyone, showing that aluminium has some use. My theory is that when you burn away your reserves, you're not magically making the metal vanish, but converting it into pure investiture- something that could be very practical in somewhere where investiture is hard to come by.
I wonder if an aluminium gnat who became a returned would have to eat breath to live?
