My biggest gripe with Dead Reckoning was him sparing Paris.

It was completely nonsensical. Done for the sake of having a convenient way to explain what the key does later on. There was absolutely no reason for him not to have bashed her fucking face in with the pipe. Especially with the stakes so high and him racing against the clock. This scene was stupid and Tom Cruise owes us all an apology.
